Eco Birth Pool In a Box - Our Beautiful Natural Birth

Here's a great story about how the Eco Birth Pool In a Box product helped us have the easiest labor and birth we could have hoped for. This is from someone who's actually used it!

We pretty much knew from the start that we wanted to have a home birth and that ideally it would be a water birth. It didn't take too much discussion for us to decide on this course of action. It was one of the best decisions we made, no two ways about it.

After having spent many long evenings reviewing the various options for birthing pools we plumped for the eco-birth pool in a box because it looked a bit more sturdy than some of the other models and the price was very reasonable. We had also read some positive reviews from others.

The kit arrived very swiftly a couple of days after ordering and we wasted no time in diving in (excuse the pun), carefully inflating the pool and attaching the inner liner. It took about 40 minutes to fill by which time I had poured myself a glass of wine, much to my wife's disgust! We proceeded to spend the evening testing out the pool and it was marvellous. A hot tub in the living room! At the very least it gave my wife a nice chance to relax.

So the test run went very well. We were now looking forward to the big day!

We didn't have to wait too long as a few days later my wife went into labor at about seven o'clock in the morning. We didn't call the midwife immediately because we'd had a bit of a false alarm the night before and didn't think it was urgent.

I inflated the pool and filled it up which took no more than an hour that morning. My wife spent a good couple of hours just resting in the warm water which seemed to really relax her. She was managing the contractions very well and was happy for me to apply some acupressure points for pain relief.

Everything going quite swimmingly so far (I must stop with these awful puns)!

So we thought it was time to call midwife and as usual they were completely overstretched. By the time she arrived my wife was 7 cm dilated and the midwife was shocked at how she was handling things so well.

It was about 10:30 and the contractions were coming pretty regularly now and my wife was still in full control. The acupressure seemed to be really helping too. Another midwife arrived and she also commented on how calm everything seemed to be with the labor. The midwives were great but they really didn't need to do much at all until right at the very end.

By 12.30 our beautiful daughter had come to meet us. The Labour had only taken 5 1/2 hours and we attributed much of the calmness to the use of Eco Birth Pool In a Box. This is our first child after having gone through IVF and we couldn't have hoped for a better childbirth experience.

I can personally recommend the eco-birth pool in a box to any couple wanting a home water birth. We would definitely use it again and hope to do so for our second child who is yet just a glint in the parent's eyes ;)
